Expedition: Aliveness

Summary

A retreat for your mind, body and spirit, Expedition: Aliveness offers three days of distinct and interconnected “peak aliveness” experiences at the foot of America's Mountain in Manitou Springs, Colorado. These experiences include nature/outdoor recreation excursions, organic meals, guided meditations and reflection time, small group sound and herbal healing sessions, and unstructured time for area exploration. 

Dates

Expedition: Aliveness begins at 5 p.m. Thursday, October 2. Participants with White Yarrow accommodations can check in anytime after 1 p.m. October 2.  The retreat closes in the evening on Sunday, October 5, and guest check-out is by 1 p.m. Monday, October 6.  A daily schedule is available for all registrants. 

Transportation

Colorado Springs International Airport (COS) is 20 minutes from Manitou Springs. Denver International Airport (DIA) is 1.5 hours away. Car rental, Turro, Uber and Lyft are available at both airports. You do not need to rent a vehicle to participate in the retreat, but it’s something to consider if you would like to explore the Pike’s Peak area on your own before, during or after the retreat.  Free parking is available on site. 

Rates

Entire retreat rates, which include the retreat’s Thursday welcome dinner, daily (continental) breakfast Friday through Monday, daily lunch Friday through Sunday, and all scheduled activities, are $1250 per person, or $2250 per couple. The Single day rate is $495 and includes the welcome dinner,  lunch for the day for which you are registered, and all the day's activities.

Lodging

Lodging rates vary by the accommodation you select below. Rates are for four nights and include all taxes and fees. Minimum two-night accommodations can be made on an as available basis for partcipants who are attending only one or two days. 


The White Yarrow Inn House. The Inn House is a 1919 home that is seconds’ walk from downtown Manitou Springs, easy walking distance to local trails, and a short drive to many area attractions. Four  bedrooms, a living room, a salon/music room, a dining room, a back grotto, and a front porch comprise the Inn House. There is an office room and high speed wifi available to all house guests as well. Each bedroom has a full, queen or king bed and can sleep one or two (couples only) people. Bedrooms to choose from include: 

  • The Parisienne. Queen Bed, streaming TV, skylight, private bathroom with tub/shower combo. $425 total. 
  • The Mediterranean. Full-sized bed (adjustable), overlooks downtown Manitou, private bathroom with shower. $375 total.
  • The Savannah. Full-sized bed with secretary’s desk and private bathroom w/ tub/shower combo across the hall. $375 total. 
  • The Manitou Greenstone Suite. 1st floor accommodation nestled into Manitou greenstone grotto. Private entrance, King bed, sofa, and private bathroom with shower. $450 total.


The Nest is a private, boutique (310 sq ft.) cottage on the grounds of the White Yarrow. It is located on the other side of the greenstone grotto from the Inn House and separated from it by a privacy fence. The cottage dates to 1896. It was built as a wheel repair house for the Manitou livery. The quaint, one-bedroom cottage with full-sized bed sleeps two and has a kitchenette, a shower bathroom with skylight, a front porch with grill, and a back “perch”/deck with a two-person hot tub. $650 total. 


The Love Shack is a private, boutique studio-style cottage off Ruxton Avenue in Manitou, 6-8 minutes walk from the White Yarrow Heart-quarters. The cottage interior was designed by a local artist and features her art throughout. The Love Shack sleeps two people in a queen-sized bed, has a bathroom with bathtub (no shower) and a private, fenced garden patio, and is an easy walk to both downtown Manitou and to the Manitou Incline, the Cog Railway, and the Barr, Ute Pass and Intemann Trails: $500 total. Private patio.

Meals

The retreat kicks off with a welcome dinner for all retreat participants on Thursday. Continental Breakfast and, depending on the day's schedule, either lunch or dinner are  served at White Yarrow for all retreat participants  Friday through Sunday. Breakfast is also available Monday morning.
